To begin NAB this year, it began with attending a press conference by Blackmagic Design, to discuss a series of products that would be focused on by them during the show. The conference’s exhibit hall first opened Monday morning at the Las Vegas Convention Center, running through Thursday.

An intriguing element being touted throughout the showroom floor was the SRT Alliance, aimed at delivering high-quality, low-latency video across the public internet.

In all, nearly a dozen products were highlighted during the whirlwind Blackmagic conference, with the most notable items for houses of worship being the MultiView 4 HD or the ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K.

With the updated ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K, it includes eight independent 12G-SDI inputs, while the live production switcher has incorporated a built-in Fairlight audio mixer, an upgrade made possible following the company’s acquisition of Fairlight about a year and a half ago. The all-in-one Ultra HD live production switcher also incorporates an Advanced Chroma Keyer, providing users the ability for adjustable screen controls when selecting and sampling a region of color, along with adjustment controls for foreground, background and edges.

For the MultiView 4 HD, a new product offering by Blackmagic announced Monday, it features the ability to monitor four separate video sources on a single display. The flexibility of this system also allows one to utilize a mix of source content, so if you are still working with SD, as well as HD content, a unit such as the MultiView 4 HD provides the flexibility to work within those various formats for viewing. Such a configuration is helpful in backroom tech spaces, where limited space is of utmost importance.

Following that press conference, the rest of that first day was spent meeting with nearly a dozen of among the hundreds of manufacturers spread out across the four halls at the convention center, learning about the newest products being showcased at NAB.

One of the notable products was the GLX-D Frequency Manager, an add-on to Shure’s GLX-D Advanced wireless microphone system, which earned last year’s New Product Awards first-ever Best in Show designation at the WFX Conference & Expo in Dallas last October.

Serving as an RF frequency manager, the product was completed in the last year. It provides access to higher wireless channel counts for the user, between 20 to 30. In addition, with the monitoring of the RF frequency band in the 2.4 GHz RF environment, it offers the best possible transmission, to go with backup frequencies.
