Video is everywhere, but creating, editing and posting video from anywhere is not always an option. However, with video editing apps for your mobile device, putting together a video and posting it just got a lot easier.

The start of 2014 has brought a new group of video editing apps into the marketplace. Plus, with the turn of the new year, well-known apps have also been upgraded to take advantage of the new advancements in mobile technology and aesthetic.

With apps like Pinnacle Studio for iOS, users can take advantage of features similar to those offered on desktop versions of the same program to create and edit videos to render content fit for professional use.

Recording video is simple. Every device has an internal camera that can record and render video. And, a lot of the apps for posting videos have obvious social connotations and are continuing to become the “must have” feature for basically any social network. However, how can we apply this same concept within a professional setting? While networks like Instagram and Vine provide users with the tools they need to take on-the-spot video, these programs lack control over content (save filter settings), which disregards them from being versatile options for usable apps.

Professional video editing apps offer the features you need to take control of your content. From transitions to frame-to-frame control, professional video apps provide a large variety of options that give you the tools you need to make sure your video content works for you.

Video editing apps serve a variety of purposes. Yes, they help you modify current video content, however, they are also useful for adding still images, inserting text and creating sound tracks. As with desktop video editing software, video editing apps attempt to cover a gamut useful processes. Great video editing apps not only give you the options you need to assemble the structure of your video content, but offer a variety of effects as well—in the hopes that you can craft an even more engaging clip.

Unfortunately, the market seems to favor iOS based video apps over Android powered apps, mainly based on the availability all-encompassing functional apps, or just the number of apps offered on each market. Given this, it is hard to offer a completely even list of apps that represents both iOS and Android equally. However, this collection does suggest useful apps from each camp that would make great additions to you mobile tool belt.
